Meeting: Wednesday 13th January 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — Steve Johnson @ 8:54 am

Hi All,

I just want to confirm that the meeting this month is going ahead.

As you know, we cannot hold our regular meeting at the Apple store due to maintenance going on within the store.

However, we will be meeting at All Bar One (just round the corner from the Apple Store). We will be meeting from 7pm with the committee on hand to discuss any topics you wish.

We will probably be upstairs, so make sure you check up there as its quieter there and we have more chance of getting some seats.

The committee look forward to see you all on Wednesday.

Regards

Steve

PS – the first person to mention the word “tablet” buys a round!!!

GlasMUG December Meeting & Christmas Social

Filed under: Meetings, Members, Social Events — Saskia @ 3:53 am

The committee has been hard at work organising our December meeting & Christmas Social, taking into account the feedback from our members’ questionnaire. So here’s what we’ve come up with:

Date: Wednesday, 9 December 2009
Time: from 7pm
Location: Gramofon Bistro, 7 King Street, Glasgow, G1 5QZ

A Google map for Gramofon is here. It’s in the Merchant City, just of the Trongate, about 10 minutes walk from the Apple Store, Queen Street or Central Stations.

We’re booking a separate small room and the place has Wifi too, so our geeking needs should be covered.

As for food and drink, the place is BYOB and we’ve done a deal to cover the corkage for everybody. We’re also planning on ordering a selection of food from their scrumptious mediterranean menu. If you don’t want food, you don’t have to. But if you do, we’re asking a small contribution for £5 per member.

As this is a social, we’d particularly like to invite non-members. So if you’d like to bring along any friends, spouses, fellow geeks, etc please feel free. Non-members will pay £8 for food.

To help us arrange the event we would be grateful if you could fill in this very short form to confirm attendance etc.

Hope to see you all there!

Saskia

New date for October meeting

Filed under: Apple Store Glasgow, Meetings — Saskia @ 7:40 am

GlasMUG’s October meeting will take place on Wednesday 21 October from 7pm onwards at the Apple store. That’s one week later than the normal date.

The main topic of the evening will be Quinn’s presentation on Snow Leopard’s lesser known features.

We will also have our monthly prize draw of this month’s iCreate and hope we’ll be able to share some of the results from the GlasMUG feedback questionnaire. You have all completed that, haven’t you?

Sorry for any confusion over the date. Apple scheduled another event for our usual meeting slot and it’s taken a little while to confirm the new date. When we got that confirmation yesterday we had trouble with the hosting of the GlasMUG website, which meant we first couldn’t update it and then only some of the site got updated. Hopefully, by the time you read this the web site shows the correct date everywhere or it very soon will be.

Again, sincere apologies for any confusion or inconvenience caused by this change. We were trying hard to keep both to a minimum, but unfortunately events conspired against us on this occasion.

Look forward to seeing you all on the 21st!

Cheers,
Saskia

September Meeting

Filed under: Uncategorized — Steve Johnson @ 5:07 am

Hi All,
Just a reminder that tonight’s GlasMUG meeting has been moved to next Wednesday 16th September. The reason for this is because of the Apple Media Event at 6pm tonight (10am San Francisco) and the fact that Apple Store, Glasgow cannot accommodation us this evening because…. well I guess we’ll have to wait and see if they are doing Point of Sale change, products change, new product availability…who knows.

The meeting will take place at Apple Store, Glasgow next Wednesday 16th September 2009 where the topic will still be MobileMe and Syncing with a session from the Apple Store Trainers on MobileMe, Syncing with your Mac or Pc and how it all works in todays multi-electronic workflow!

Speak soon

Steve
